About Me

Sharing a few things about myself  is a pleasure.  My hope is that it will help you relate to my passion for teaching and life in general.  While I mention only positive comments here, I will share my struggles as well as triumphs along my journey of blogging.  Oh the fun we might have!!!

I have been an educator for over 30 years.  I have 27 years of experience in the public school system which includes 12 years in the regular classroom and 15 years in Gifted Education.  I currently work as an independent contractor training teachers in Math, General Education, and Gifted and Talented strategies.  My career as an educator has been very rewarding.

I have received many honors such as “Teacher of the Year”, “Fulbright Memorial Recipient” and voted “Favorite Teacher” in the local newspaper.  Yet my biggest joy, is believing I have made a difference in the lives of many of my students.  From kindergartners to eighth graders, my goal was to pique their curiosity and instill a love for learning and above all let them know that they are loved.

My family includes a wonderful husband and two incredible daughters who have given me two fabulous son-in-laws and six priceless grandchildren. My parents and my mother-in-law are also an added blessing.  Our family events and times together are always cherished and memorable.  Christmas, Easter, and Back to School at the McClendon house is always a HUGE celebration.

Travel is my lifelong passion.  I have been to over 52 countries and the experiences I have encountered have transformed my life for the better.  As a child, I always dreamed of going to Egypt which was my first trip to the African continent in 1995. Most recently, I traveled the Baltic Sea and Atlantic through many parts of Scandinavia, Scotland, and even Iceland.  I thank God every day for the many blessings He has bestowed upon me and my family.
